‘The Imagineering Story’. Your next binge for that creative boost!
The Walt Disney Company entered the streaming wars in late November 2019 with the launch of Disney+ in North America and the Netherlands.
It currently stands as a centralized platform showcasing all of their entertainment properties from Star Wars to Marvel to their very own Disney classics and more. Although, if Disney is known for anything else outside of their films it would have to be their theme parks.
For those fortunate enough to have visited a Disney Theme Park, there’s no denying the unparalleled joy and experience of walking down a timeless Main Street towards Cinderella’s castle within the Magic Kingdom or traveling the world in a single day through Epcot’s World Showcase.
With thirteen active theme parks spanning the globe and counting, it boggles both the mind and imagination as to how these themed rides and attractions can be possibly conceived let alone developed.
But as with anything at The Walt Disney Company, the magic begins in one place — the imagination.
Walt Disney himself understood this more than most when he set out to create a theme park in Anaheim, CA based on the characters his animation studio had immortalized through classic films like Dumbo, Snow White and Bambi among others. A place where people of all ages and all walks of life could visit and be transported to their own private Neverland.
But in order to build such a place, Walt knew he needed a special kind of engineer, one with enough imagination to bring to life the never before seen attractions he was proposing. He looked no further than the very animators who had turned Disney into a house hold name and coined this merry band of magic makers — the ‘Imagineers.’
From the creation of Audio-Animatronics to the innovation of Projection Mapping and Circle-Vision 360˚ film format to all of the world class breakthroughs and innovations that have entertained and inspired generations, ‘The Imagineering Story’ presents a never-before-seen glimpse into the lives of the talented men and women behind all the magic at the Happiest Place On Earth.
So the next time you find yourself in the midst of a creative block, head over to Disney+ and let your imagination soar!
‘The Imagineering Story’ is a 6-part miniseries narrated by Angela Basset and directed by Leslie Iwerks.
